Ryland F. MahatheyRyland F. Mahathey is an associate in the Estate Planning and Business Planning Groups.  Ryland concentrates his practice in the areas of Taxation, Sophisticated Estate Planning and Asset Protection, Tax-Exempt Organizations, Charitable Planning, and Business Planning, including Entity Formation and Succession Planning.

A native Floridian, Ryland was born in West Palm Beach, Florida.  He earned his B.B.A. in Accounting from Stetson University and his M.B.A. in Finance from Florida Atlantic University.  Ryland graduated magna cum laude from the Washburn University School of Law and was a published member of the Washburn Law Review. Ryland also holds an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida, Levin College of Law, where he served as Graduate Editor of the Florida Tax Review.

In addition to his law degree, Ryland’s professional licenses and designations include Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.) (Florida, 1982; Kentucky, 1997) and Certified Management Accountant (C.M.A.) (1985). Ryland served on the Federal Taxation Committee (1997-1998) and Personal Financial Planning Committee (1999) for the Kentucky Society of Certified Public Accountants and on the Board of Directors of the Bluegrass Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants (1997). Ryland was also an Adjunct Professor of Taxation at Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky (1998-2000) and has authored a number of articles on estate planning and tax matters.

He is a member of the Boynton Beach-Lantana Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Fellow and served on the Board of Directors of the Rotary Club of Delray Beach, Sunrise Foundation (2004-2007).  He received a Silver Medal for pro bono service from the Palm Beach County Legal Aid Society and is a Florida Bar Foundation Fellow. 

Ryland is licensed to appear before the United States Tax Court and has been admitted to practice in both Florida and Kentucky.
